Daily conversations #2

- I think he has a girlfriend finally!
- Who?
- X
- Oh I figured, I saw his photos and conversations with her in FB. I'm glad that is her, she is perfect for him.
- I can't believe they're dating. We've known them for 10 years, and why now? I always hope you'd end up with him somehow.
- I told you if he ever get a girlfriend, I'll be very sad right?
- Yeah! How are you feeling?
- Pretty shitty! I hope I don't hijack his wedding if he get married haha! Guess it's time to get over it, 7 years is enough!

- So tell me how was being a police officer like?
- It was a hell of a journey. I loved it, it was thrilling and fulfilling.
- Why did you want to become a policeman?
- Well! Initially, I wanted to become a firefighter so firstly joining the police force is essential. But then I grew to like the job so much so 40 years + later haha
- I never heard anyone in my life who wants to be a firefighter. You're the first!
- Hah! Really! If I ever get to choose my profession again, I'd be a teacher!
- I think you could, you really enjoy striking up conversations. I always thought of being a police officer is the scariest, most dangerous career one could ever have. Was it frightening?
- I was in charge of Santa Ana, you know this is the city with many actions among others. I had chased suspects and handled violent cases.
- Did you have to investigate homicide cases?
- Well I don't, because I'm not the detective. But I had seen bodies and they were not lovely scenes. But one time, I was assigned to find this suspect and arrest him because last time, he shot one of the policemen who came to check if everything was alright. There was a report that his grandma and him were fighting and they wanted to check if she was ok. He brought the gun out shouting "Get of my property or I'll kill ya!"
- Then what happened?
- He fired and was arrested. He didn't show up to mandatory court hearing so I needed to bring him in. Nobody warned us about this fact that he shot someone, because the area was in Anaheim where I was not familiar with. So we arrived, me and one partner stood in the front and the other one went to back, you know to check if anyone ran out the back door, just in case. So we knocked the door, his grandmother came out.
"Is your grandson home?
No,  I haven't seen him.
Are you sure?
Yes! I am sure! "
 - Then my partner who was in the backyard reported he saw a man, opened the backdoor and seemed like he was trying to run away but he hadn't.
"Madam' we know he is here and we're gonna ask you to step aside"
- So we came in, checked almost every room, then there is one room left, and my other partner had not seen him coming out in the backdoor. We figured he must be in there and were prepared to step in. The door was locked and his grandma gave us the key because she didn't want us to wreck her door. Slowly I turned to key, nervous to see what's gonna happen. I took a deep breath and opened the door. Then "PEW!".
- What happened??
- He was lying on the floor, unmoving. My partner was shouting
"You shot him dude! You shot him!"
- His grandma was crying
"You shot my grandson! You shot my grandson!"
- But I think I didn't, it happened so fast I couldn't react. My first thought was I might have shot him because of reflex. But I checked my barrel, it was not hot which meant I didn't shoot him!. It turned out he shot himself. Then we calmed down, check him out and kicked away his gun. We called the ambulance but it was too late, and he was 25.
- Oh my, that's so scary!
- Yeah! That's one of the perks being the policeman haha. But it's not as disturbing as working in the prison. I worked in a county prison for 5 years.
- How was it? I saw in the movies that they still can form gang and everything in prison. Are the prisoners scary?
- Yeah! It's true, they formed groups, you know, black with black, Mexican with Mexican. Some of the federal prisoners are quite scary but they were put in different cells so it was alright. Some are just minor crime like thefts. It was only hazard when these people were brought together in a cell at the court, waiting for the hearing. This one time, a young boy with blue eyes, blonde hair, 18 years old, got arrested for stealing something stupid. He was sodomized by a gangster.
- Uhm! What does "sodomized" mean?
- He raped him, the young boy was beaten brutally and raped.
- OMG!
- Yeah! He was real young, blue eyes, blonde and only 18.
- Poor guy! It's gonna traumatized him for the rest of his life. So it is true then. Those movies!
- I mean it happens, sometimes even worse than in the movies. I had seen many disturbing things. Other than that, I enjoyed the career very much.
